General Education Requirements
1. English Communication
(9 units minimum) Include one course from each subarea (1A, 1B, and 1C). 2. Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning
(3 units minimum) 3. Arts and Humanities
(6 units minimum) Complete 3 units in each subarea (3A and 3B) 4. Social and Behavior Sciences
(6 units minimum) Include 3 units from 4A, 3 units from 4B. Courses shall be completed from at least two different disciplines. 4A.
United States History The California Code of Regulations, Title 5, Section 40404, requires “…comprehensive study of American history and American government including the historical development of American institutions and ideals, the Constitution of the United States and the operation of representative democratic government under that Constitution, and the processes of state and local government…” 4B.
Human Institutions, Societies, and Cultures5. Physical and Biological Sciences
(7 units minimum) Include one course from each subarea (5A, 5B and 5C). 5C.
Laboratory 5C may also be satisfied by completing a 5A or 5B course that includes a laboratory component. 6. Ethnic Studies
(3 units minimum) Commencing with the 2021-22 catalog year, the California State University shall require, as an undergraduate graduation requirement, the completion of, at minimum, one three- unit course in ethnic studies. Courses listed below fulfill this requirement. UD‐2 or 5: Upper Division 2 or 5
(3 units minimum) Complete 3 units. Upper Division G.E. courses are designed to be taken after upper-division status (completion of 60 semester units) is attained. In order to receive GE credit, students must have completed 45 units at the time of registration, and have completed the following by the start of the Upper Division G.E. course: General Education English Composition (1A), Critical Thinking (1B), Oral Communication (1C), and Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning (2) courses (the “Golden Four” courses). g.
